Welcome to Pizza East Portobello

Pizza East Portobello is spread over two floors of a restored Georgian pub, right in the middle of the bustling Portobello market area and includes a deli trading in ingredients such as polenta, farro, and rissotto rice, as well as Italian cured meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables.

Just like our big brother in Shoreditch, while we take our pizza seriously the setting is very relaxed. We’ve stripped the building’s interior back and created a light and airy space with wooden floors and huge windows, then filled it with beautiful vintage cafe furniture. The in-house wood-fired ovens and open ground floor kitchen mean there are great views to be had inside, especially from the antique stools at the counter, or you can sit outside and watch the world go by.

Our upstairs dining room is an even more laid-back sitting room, as is our terrace, a little green haven away from the hustle of town, where you can have drinks or dinner.

Aperitivo

True to Italian tradition we invite you to join us for aperitivo at the bar.

Join us between 5 & 7pm, Monday – Wednesday. Choose from a range of wines, Prosecco and Italian-inspired cocktails whilst enjoying a complimentary selection of antipasti served on large wooden boards on the bar and deli counter. These include beef carpaccio, lardo and pear crostini, pizzette and grilled sardines amongst Italian meats and cheeses.

Food

We use home-made tomato sauce and a ciabatta-style, slow-proved dough, which is hand-made in the restaurant every day for all pizzas. We’ve brought over a few of our favourite toppings from Shoreditch but also created some new ones – look out for our signature Portobello mushroom, taleggio and oregano pizza or try the spicy sausage, mozzarella, broccoli pizza.

The menu also contains some exciting new alternatives to pizza, in our wood-oven selection – think slow-roasted whole baked salmon, whole beef fillet or whole pork belly, which take on the wonderful smoky flavours of the oven. (And if you can’t choose between the two menus? Go for our crispy pork belly, tomato and mushroom pizza).

If you’re after a snack or starter choose from our antipasti menu: try bone marrow bruschetta or porcini, taleggio croquettes. If you’d like to take a taste of Pizza East Portobello home with you, visit our deli counter where you’ll find a great selection of cured meats and cheese, all sourced from our hand-picked Italian suppliers.

For pudding or even a mid-afternoon treat, our dessert menu has something for everyone – from salted chocolate caramel tart made with rich Amadeo chocolate, to pear and almond tart, Perfect for a winter’s day, do check out our brand new authentic gelato stand, with four different flavours on offer every day.

Breakfast

Breakfast is available every day from 8am – if you’d like some of our excellent coffee and hand-made pastries head to the deli counter. If you’re in need of something a little more substantial then make yourself at home in the restaurant.

Our fried egg, pancetta and avocado ciabatta is an update of an old early morning favourite, as are our home-made porridge with fruit compote and green eggs and ham.

Reservations

We have one table that you are able to book, for groups of 10-12 people. The rest of the restaurant is simply walk-in, so come down at any time and we will do our best to seat you.
